For three weeks Maurizio, Sara and Jessica, from the Italian Dance Company Colaps rehearsed and elaborated their dance project called Medeamaterial. The extravaganza is interesting and unusual interpretation of the ancient myth of Medea.

"In this project, we tell about the relationship of each person with his supposed to be, but actually foreign body, as useless object, which is discarded after it becomes unusable”. Maurizio Mauro explained about their unorthodox concept.

This Saturday, December 7, in Derida Dance Center, at 19.30 (bulv. Slivnitsa 245) dance artists from Colaps will present their project to the audience in its work variation. Admission is free!

Artists from Colaps, Italy, have focused on the means of Dance Theater. They come from Torino, where they specialize in Performing Arts. Being dance artists who have participated in many performances, they decided, in 2010, to join their efforts and turn their ideas into reality on stage. Their residence in Derida Dance Center realized project CO-LABOR, in which the dance center has partnered successfully with Sofia Municipality and the "America for Bulgaria".

CO-LABOR project is funded by the programme "Culture" of Sofia Municipality in 2013 and implemented in support of the candidature of Sofia and the South-West Region for European Capital of Culture 2019.

Derida Dance Center once again shows the diversity of the different dance styles and trends. In an effort to develop contemporary dance, activities at the center are focused on training, training programs, dance residencies, productions and courses for both professionals and amateurs. The social space occupies an important part in the cultural life of Sofia, and regularly presents performances and shows.

Derida Dance Center represents the largest network of contemporary dance in Europe -Aerowaves and is a partner in many international projects with major cultural organizations.

From 2010 until now Derida Dance Center has established itself, as a leading organization in Europe, supporting young artists through its residence program.
